The Top Reason Students DON'T Become Fluent In English! (Never Make This Mistake!)
Today I want to talk to you about the top reason why students DON'T become fluent in English.
And... there is a good chance you are making this mistake, even if you don't know it!
So... what is it?
đ The top reason students don't become fluent is because they don't practice speaking enough! đ
If you don't practice speaking, you will NEVER become fluent!
Speaking is a fundamental part of communication - obviously.
A language isn't just a set of rules that you study in a textbook.
It's dynamic. It's fluid. It's spontaneous.
It needs to be spoken.
If you just study English the "old-fashioned" way using a textbook...
â You might understand the rules of grammar, but you won't be able to hold a conversation!
â You might try to learn a lot of words, but you will have problems memorizing them.
â Learning a language becomes something that is just a school subject... and NOT a natural part of your everyday life.
Yeah... all of these are things we definitely want to avoid!
So, what's the solution?
It's very simple. Speak more!
In my experience, speaking is probably the most important communication skill.
If you make speaking skills a priority, eventually..
đ„ You won't be translating into English from your own language, and correct grammar will feel natural... and NOT "forced"
đ§ Your brain will form new connections and pathways, allowing you to remember vocabulary more easily
â English truly becomes part of your everyday life, and you can begin to think in English
Oh, and don't forget this. Forget about being perfect. Making mistakes is normal.
Be OK with being OK!
Gradually, step-by-step, you will make progress, if you:
â Get out of your comfort zone
â Speak more often in English
Now... let me talk briefly about something that I hear from my amazing followers on Instagram all the time...
"I know I need to practice speaking, but I have nobody to speak English with in my life!" đ
Sound familiar?
When I created my English Club, this is one of the main problems I wanted to solve.
I hear from followers around the world (even those living in English-speaking countries) that they don't have anybody to speak English with!
They know they need to practice their English, but they don't know how... they either have no English-speaking friends OR their English-speaking friends are busy and don't have time to spend hours speaking with them!
The Club allows you to speak with my wonderful team of teachers in class (We are from the US, UK, and Canada) as well as other students both inside and outside of the classroom.
Many students make new friends and discover each other's cultures, all while practicing their English.đ
The great thing?
The learning environment in the Club is supportive and encouraging.
Everybody is in the same position.
There's no judgement.
No unnecessary pressure.
Our teachers are patient, motivating, and present.
It's the perfect environment to improve your English.
So, if you haven't already signed up for the Club, join us right now and get ready to practice speaking English!
Don't forget - the more you speak, the better your English will become.
And if you feel nervous or shy to speak, read this post! đ
Have a great one,
-Your teacher Michael
